Gamelan by Hands Percussion
PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER
If you’ve never caught a Hands Percussion performance, just know one thing – you will clap till your palms smart. Set up in 1997, Malaysia’s leading percussion group has a string of accolades tucked under their belt and are regularly invited to perform at international arts festivals.
While their focus is on the 24 Festive drums, Hands is just as adept at many other percussion instruments. Their performances are highly regarded and admired for breaking down cultural and geographical barriers, while at the same time, preserving and promoting Malaysian heritage. At each Hands concert, the performers impress with their versatility as they continuously reach new dimensions in theatrical drumming and contemporary percussion music. Besides two core teams of drummers, Hands also has a gamelan group.
For The Other Festival, they will showcase a gamelan performance and a drum repertoire, besides conducting a drumming workshop for the public that will culminate in a special show. Here’s your chance to learn the art of 24 Festive drumming – are you ready?
